- IRQ Conflict [3] - Antisocial Justin Gets An iPhone 4 ✶
The latest episode of my new 10 minute podcast with friend and local .Net developer Mikel Berger is now live. We discuss the iPhone 4, iOS 4 from a user and developer’s perspective and why I’ll never use FaceTime again. You’ve certainly got 10 minutes to listen.
- Jesper on ‘xlang’ ✶
Jesper thinks LLVM, LLDB and similar projects are just part of Apple’s long-term plan to replace Objective-C with a new language.
- WWDC Music iMixes ✶
One of the subtle things you take away from the week at WWDC is that the pre/post-session music is pretty good. It’s a mix of catchy pop, known classics and a bit of the obscure. Unbeknownst to me, Jeremy Reichman has been compiling an iMix each year with the music.

- Why there’s no bounce scrolling in Android ✶
In my Android review, I mentioned that Android’s lack of bounce scrolling was unfortunate. It turns out that bounce scrolling is something Apple patented back in 2007. No technical limitations. Just another unfortunate use of software patents to compete.

- Palm Loses Mobile Design Guru Matias Duarte to Google ✶
Duarte, the former designer for the Sidekick and now WebOS, has joined Google as User Experience Director for Android. I hope he can bring the attention to detail to Android that it so desperately needs, but I fear he’ll be stifled again by a company that designs based on data rather than taste.

- Pain Is A Gift ✶
Daniel Jalkut on Android:
Apple is numb from success, and I hope the emerging competition from Google and others will re-sensitize them to the threat of failure.
Well worth the read. I want Android to succeed. In a way, I’d prefer Google as the #1 smartphone maker in the world as there is part of me that doesn’t think Apple knows how to handle not being an underdog.
- IRQ Conflict [0]: The Podcast Constructor ✶
A new semi-regular podcast from yours truly and my Windows developer buddy Mikel Berger where we discuss five technology related stories in approximately ten minutes. Quick and to the point.
- Today Classic For Mac OS 9 Now Available ✶
Second Gear is pleased to present their latest application.
- Today 2.2 Released ✶
The latest version of my primary Mac application Today is now available. This version fixes a few issues users were running into when trying to use Today in conjunction with Snow Leopard’s Exchange support. It also adds a few UI niceties that I’ve wanted to get to for a while: hovering over an event will now show the location if it exists and event/task windows now show calendar colors.
The interesting thing to take away from this release is that I’m starting to feel like I’m hitting a ton of brick walls when it comes to NSTableView. A lot things I want to implement or adjust are starting to become either impossible or requiring of really funk code hacks to get them working. An investigation into switching to NSCollectionView is in my future.
- First & 20: Justin Williams ✶
Ever wonder what apps are on my iPhone’s homescreen? Now you know.
